We've all of course seen on the news images of earthquake destructions. This week I realised how different it is to actually see it in first person.
I'm now based in Chautara, the capital of the Sindhupalchok district, north of Kathmandu, at some 1600m. The whole of the district, including Chautara, has been majorly affected by the earthquakes, and this is what the downtown looks like - a month after the earthquake, and after a substantial amount of rubble clearance already done...
I found it thoroughly impressive, I admit.
